Rooftop Diaries is an artwork produced during September and October of the year 2020. It functions as a lunar diary of the Covid Pandemic, during the month that preceded the second lockdown in Athens. Almost every night, for one month, I shot a one minute video of the sky and skylines from my rooftop in the city. These images were accompanied by a short text of the data concerning the pandemic (the number of cases, of deaths, the restrictive measures that followed )and also personal thoughts and impressions related to the situation. The different phases of the Moon, the position of the stars, the visibility in the sky, all participate in this double digital diary, ending one day before the new lockdown, the night of the Blue Moon.

There were 453 new cases today. Sometimes it feels like this might never end. Then you get used to it. I'm afraid they're going to lock us up again. It's 10 :13 and I tried to shoot the moon, but I can't seem to see it from here. We're probably about 7 days before the new lockdown. And 5 days after the new moon.''

New record in Attica today. 240 cases. They say we have the lion's share and that the viral load is high in the city. Muddy says that most of the cases in hospitals are immigrants and that she hopes no one will know about this. But if she knows, everyone knows. I'm excited about the full moon coming up soon. It's filling up slowly: at least some things are not affected. Nature has an extraordinary ability to ignore evidence."
